Study of System Efficiency Measurement of Manushmara Irrigation System Phase I, Sarlahi

  • Desk Study including collection and review of relevant document, preparation of work plan, methodology. 
  •  Collect and analyze meteorological data of the project area. Study climatic characteristics, estimate long term annual and monthly precipitation evapotranspiration, 24-hour maximum rainfall, 80% reliable rainfall, extreme precipitation
  • Study hydrological characteristics of the source river. Estimate long term annual and monthly flow. Estimate low flow and maximum flood flow for different occurrence period.
  • Investigate soil characteristics along the major conveyance alignment (main canals and branch canals) and command area. General geological characteristics of the project area
  • Agricultural studies – general cropping pattern, agricultural practices, and crop water requirement for the crops.
  • Field study and investigation conveyance efficiency of Main canal
  • Estimate field application efficiency for a particular season and crop 
  • Estimate overall efficiency and assess major water losses due to evapotranspiration, deep percolation, surface overflow etc. 
  • Preparation of field data, compilation and analysis using appropriate techniques
  •  Preparation of maps and drawings as required 
  • Preparation and presentation of following report
