Study of System Efficiency Measurement of Manushmara Irrigation System Phase I, Sarlahi
Desk Study including collection and review of relevant document, preparation of work plan, methodology.
Collect and analyze meteorological data of the project area. Study climatic characteristics, estimate long term annual and monthly precipitation evapotranspiration, 24-hour maximum rainfall, 80% reliable rainfall, extreme precipitation
Study hydrological characteristics of the source river. Estimate long term annual and monthly flow. Estimate low flow and maximum flood flow for different occurrence period.
Investigate soil characteristics along the major conveyance alignment (main canals and branch canals) and command area. General geological characteristics of the project area
Agricultural studies – general cropping pattern, agricultural practices, and crop water requirement for the crops.
Field study and investigation conveyance efficiency of Main canal
Estimate field application efficiency for a particular season and crop
Estimate overall efficiency and assess major water losses due to evapotranspiration, deep percolation, surface overflow etc.
Preparation of field data, compilation and analysis using appropriate techniques
